Melbourne Free Event – Midsumma Carnival (Jan 18)
Midsumma Carnival is a free one-day extravaganza with free entry, featuring visual, auditory and culinary delights – the ultimate outdoor arts celebration.
Details:
Three performance stages, two food hubs with diverse options, pop-up bars, outstanding singers, dancers, DJs and performers, plus stalls with giveaways.
Midsumma Carnival Dog Show at 3:00 pm on Picnic Precinct Stage.

Melbourne Free Activity – Metro Tunnel Scavenger Hunt for Prizes & $150 myki Cards (Jan 12–25)
There is also a city-wide scavenger hunt with three routes; complete routes to win Metro Tunnel merch, and finish all three for a chance to win one of ten $150 myki cards.

How it works:

Choose one of three tracks (or do all three):

Follow the clues to locations such as landmarks, parks, gardens, cafés, bakeries, shops and murals.

At each stop, find and scan the QR code (on footpaths, walls or windows) to collect a virtual item and get the next clue.

Each route has 5 locations. After finishing a route, screenshot your completion screen.

Go to Metro Tunnel HQ (125–133 Swanston Street) and show your screenshot to staff to choose a prize: a hat or a notebook (while stocks last).

Complete all three routes (15 locations total) to unlock an entry form in the app for a draw to win one of ten myki passes worth $150 each plus Metro Tunnel merchandise.

Eastern Track: In a park symbolising dedication and sacrifice; head to the visitor centre for your first clue.

Central Track: Bluestone building with a grand clock tower and civic pride where council meets and crowds gather.
