Across Australia’s major cities — Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Adelaide — many public libraries let members borrow Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox games for free. You can borrow them from the library now!

Some library examples:
Total items: Up to 30 items per card at once.
Games/consoles: Consoles are a special category, usually 1 per card for 3 weeks; holds allowed, with a total holds cap typically aligned to your item limit.
Total items: Up to 50 items per card.
Reservations: Up to 20 holds; consoles/games may have their own sub-limits shown on each catalogue item.
Nintendo Switch/PS5 games: 2-week loan; up to 4 game items per card.
Holds (general): Many branches set up to 20 holds per card.
How to place holds::
Sign up for a library membership, then download the library app. In the app, search “Switch Game”, “PlayStation Game”, or “Xbox Game”, or type the English title of the game you want.



Open the item page to see availability and how many copies exist.

If all games are out, choose “Place Hold” to join the queue. and select the pickup branch closest to home.

After placing the hold, you can view and modify the pickup branch in the item’s hold settings.

In the end, in the Account section, you can see all active holds and your current queue position.
